I think we should. I mean the bible is pretty political. this is a pretty extreme book and there are some things I dont agree with. the book is Jesus for President by shane clairborne. its a good read.

I think all Christians should be involved with all aspects of human life: politics, show business, medicine, software development, iron working, banking, waiting tables, etc. However, many ask a different question such as "Would Jesus be a Democrat or Republican?" Honestly, I think Jesus would be neither Republican or Democrat. There are aspects to both parties that are good and bad. Jesus said, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's" (Matt 22:21). I think His point is that God is more interested in your HEART and what you are doing with your life than any party affiliation. I think we are all on a journey with God. What's cool is that Jesus turned religion on it's head by showing that those who appeared most religious were not. Is that always the case? No. However, each of us is "on the hook" with God to either honor him or reject him. If we honor him, then we must show it by how we live and that's the hard part, for everyone.

I lean more towards not getting too involved in politics. I will cast my vote in hope that our country will keep its morals in line. But our lifes are a vapor and the real work that needs to be done is spiritual. The religious folks in the days of Jesus were blinded from seeing that Jesus was the Messiah because they were focused on the world and were waiting for a political saviour. When in reality God sent us a spiritual saviour! This is what we need to focus on! Jesus!
I know that its way easier to think about the politics of this world then to share Christ with someone or get on our knees and wrestle against "powers and principalities".....

And when it comes to Shane Claiborne...
He has many good points that he puts out in his books, and there are many aspects of his life that inspire me to lay down my worldly life. But I would be very careful with following his mindset because his aggenda is not quite on track with Christs Way. He puts no emphasis on sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ! He speaks on being a servant and laying down possesions(which I am 100% for). But without sharing the Truth(that because of Jesus' gift on the cross we can pass from death to life!!!), being a servant and giving away money ONLY BRINGS GLORY TO YOURSELF!
There is a "hip" movement(that will one day shape itself into the one-world religion that the Bible prophecies about) in our generation that is slowly seperating itself from sharing the message of the cross. This message, when preached in its full truth, is a very unpopular message! Many have died from sharing the TRUTH, and many still will! We are called to be the salt and light of the world! Giving away your money, living in a commune, and doing nice things for people is useless in the long run if you are not verbally sharing the full Gospel. Shane Claiborne seems to be against this.
Again, I am 100% for being a true servant and simplifying our lifes. I like the lifestyle that Claiborne preaches, but his goals are not the same goals as Christs.
